In 1956, in Changchun, Jilin, the first domestically produced Jiefang truck rolled off the assembly line, marking the beginning of China’s automotive industry and putting an end to the era when China could not manufacture automobiles. This milestone moment laid the foundation for the nation’s industrial and defense development, making Jiefang a household name across the country.
Over the past seven decades, Jiefang has remained at the forefront of innovation, evolving through seven generations of models and achieving a cumulative production milestone of 9 million vehicles. It has witnessed and driven the growth of China’s automotive industry from its infancy to global competitiveness.
As China’s leading commercial vehicle brand, Jiefang continues to prioritize innovation and transformation, developing highly competitive products that meet market demands and enhance core competitiveness. With a brand value exceeding RMB 100 billion, it has ranked first in the industry for 13 consecutive years, solidifying its position as China’s premier commercial vehicle brand.
To establish itself among the world’s top brands, Jiefang has actively expanded globally since its first export of three CA10 trucks to Jordan at the 1957 Canton Fair. Today, its annual exports have surged to 60,000 units, maintaining rapid growth for four years.
In South Africa, Jiefang entered the market in 1994 as the only Chinese automotive brand and has since become a local benchmark, with annual sales exceeding 5,000 units and consistently ranking first. The FAW South Africa plant in Coega is hailed as a model of China-Africa cooperation.
In the Philippines, Jiefang’s journey from setting up assembly lines to achieving an annual production capacity of over 10,000 units has created more than 2,500 jobs, transforming the brand from a trade partner to a key stakeholder in local development.
Jiefang’s global footprint now spans 88 countries and regions, including Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America. Key achievements include delivering 1,000 trucks to a Kenyan distributor, signing multi-thousand-unit agreements with Indonesia’s GMM and LNE, and partnering with distributors in Australia and South Korea.
At the 2025 FAW Jiefang Global Partners Conference, the brand showcased its strength with hundreds of trucks and exhibits, impressing partners worldwide. During the 137th Canton Fair, Jiefang attracted 1,000 visitors, engaged in nearly 400 in-depth negotiations, and secured over 200 orders and 30 agreements, demonstrating its strong global appeal.
From being China’s first to becoming a world-class brand, Jiefang is committed to leaving a distinct Chinese imprint on the global commercial vehicle market. To accelerate this vision, it has launched the "SPRINT 2030" international strategy, focusing on six core capabilities: global layout, multi-brand operations, technological leadership, business innovation, mutual growth, and people-oriented development. By 2030, Jiefang aims to achieve global sales of over 500,000 units, including 180,000 overseas, striving toward its goal of becoming a "world-class automotive enterprise and a centennial national brand."
In the next five years, Jiefang will expand across six key regions—Asia, the Middle East, Europe, Africa, the Americas, and Australia-New Zealand—establishing over 13 subsidiaries and 13 production bases. Through these efforts, Jiefang will set a Chinese benchmark for the global commercial vehicle industry and shine brightly on the international stage.
